Back from the weekend

I got a camera for this photo class I'm in. So now we'll be able to start hopefully making this thing a little more interesting to look at.

FRIDAY:
Met up with everybody at The Cave and we were hustling to be on time for our show in Wisconsin. We were playing at the Earthdiver Collective in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Really cool place, the show was also a benefit show for this kid from up there who was protesting a Republican Convention in Minnesota and was unrightfully charged with something insane like conspiring to riot and charged with terrorism. The American Government is using the Patriot Act against him. I will post more about this when I know more about it because this is something I feel like people should care deeply about. I read too often about surveillance laws and anti-terrorist acts being unjustly used against activists.

Anyway... we couldn't get the damn van door to close because the latch was messed up. So we were throwing a bit fit about that and in all the commotion somehow forgot our guitars. Great. We noticed we were missing our guitars about 30 minutes from the venue.

Get to the place and it's really cool. Nice sized downstairs venue with an art gallery and library that's ran as a collective upstairs. Very cool spot for sure. Show was pretty cool. Get Rad ripped for sure. I'm super bummed that we had to miss out on Crossed Off and Widower. I'm into both those bands and hear they played sick sets.

After the show we headed to this sick Chinese spot and got down on some tofu. Kyle was sick with diarrhea and was sleeping in the van. Adam Nero of Wholehearted had offered to record a few tracks for us at this studio in the college he goes to. We went there and would be sleeping there as well.

Recorded all through the night. I slept like half an hour. Derek didn't sleep at all. However Kyle, Randle, and Aaron Edgemeyer slept like 17 hours. Haha.

Back in the van at around 1:30 , driving like 5 hours to Waterloo, Iowa and will hopefully be just in time for the show and so that we get to check out Aggress and Outlive, Outlast. Well.... wrong. We took a wrong exit and ended up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin before we realized we were going the wrong way. FUCK! Made the changes we had to in route to get there around 7ish. Still in time to see Outlive, Outlast and Aggress, no problem right? Wrong. MADISON WISCONSIN IS LIKE DAVID BOWIE'S FUCKING LABYRINTH. Stuck trying to figure how to get out of college-town hell for about 45 minutes. I was in full maniac mode trying to get out of this town. Finally some dude at a gas-station hooked us up with proper directions and we were on our way again. Big ups to Steve at the Mobil Station.

Finally getting close and around Dubuque, Iowa we stopped for some road provisions. Kyle gave one of our demos to this pregnant girl at a gas station and we bounced out.

Got to the show just in time to see Aggress and play our set. Aggress were sick, check that band. Young kids playing furious hardcore. Venue tonight was this awesome little punk garage that Quick Fix runs called the YRS. It's cool for sure. It's tiny and freezing. Our set went well. Again we had to borrow guitars (thanks Outlive, Outlast). During our set there was this insane mattress fight. So fucking cool. If you are reading this and in a band that tours, play Waterloo, Iowa. It will be one of the best shows you play for sure.

Hit up Pablos like we always do when we're in this town and then crashed out at the Take Control HQ. Got to catch up with Waterloo friends. Chad The Lorax is flying to Alaska for a beard convention. Amazing. Zach's dog took a liking to Derek's leg and wouldn't leave him alone for a couple hours. Just kept humping and humping until finally the dog tuckered out and fell asleep.

When we woke up we went with Zach and hit this decent breakfast spot in Waterloo called WaffleStop. I chose the tomato omelet and wasn't let down in my choice. Dropped Zach off and were back on the road headed home. I slept alot of the drive home because I had slept something like 3 hours in the past 48 hours. Our mandatory I-80 stop was awesome. We dumped like 15 bucks into those boxing games where you can measure your punches. Randle and I tied at 876 for the victory. Got home and went to bed instantly.
