Back from the weekend

I got a camera for this photo class I'm in. So now we'll be able to start hopefully making this thing a little more interesting to look at.

FRIDAY:
Met up with everybody at The Cave and we were hustling to be on time for our show in Wisconsin. We were playing at the Earthdiver Collective in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Really cool place, the show was also a benefit show for this kid from up there who was protesting a Republican Convention in Minnesota and was unrightfully charged with something insane like conspiring to riot and charged with terrorism. The American Government is using the Patriot Act against him. I will post more about this when I know more about it because this is something I feel like people should care deeply about. I read too often about surveillance laws and anti-terrorist acts being unjustly used against activists.

Anyway... we couldn't get the damn van door to close because the latch was messed up. So we were throwing a bit fit about that and in all the commotion somehow forgot our guitars. Great. We noticed we were missing our guitars about 30 minutes from the venue.

Get to the place and it's really cool. Nice sized downstairs venue with an art gallery and library that's ran as a collective upstairs. Very cool spot for sure. Show was pretty cool. Get Rad ripped for sure. I'm super bummed that we had to miss out on Crossed Off and Widower. I'm into both those bands and hear they played sick sets.

After the show we headed to this sick Chinese spot and got down on some tofu. Kyle was sick with diarrhea and was sleeping in the van. Adam Nero of Wholehearted had offered to record a few tracks for us at this studio in the college he goes to. We went there and would be sleeping there as well.

Recorded all through the night. I slept like half an hour. Derek didn't sleep at all. However Kyle, Randle, and Aaron Edgemeyer slept like 17 hours. Haha.

Back in the van at around 1:30 , driving like 5 hours to Waterloo, Iowa and will hopefully be just in time for the show and so that we get to check out Aggress and Outlive, Outlast. Well.... wrong. We took a wrong exit and ended up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin before we realized we were going the wrong way. FUCK! Made the changes we had to in route to get there around 7ish. Still in time to see Outlive, Outlast and Aggress, no problem right? Wrong. MADISON WISCONSIN IS LIKE DAVID BOWIE'S FUCKING LABYRINTH. Stuck trying to figure how to get out of college-town hell for about 45 minutes. I was in full maniac mode trying to get out of this town. Finally some dude at a gas-station hooked us up with proper directions and we were on our way again. Big ups to Steve at the Mobil Station.

Finally getting close and around Dubuque, Iowa we stopped for some road provisions. Kyle gave one of our demos to this pregnant girl at a gas station and we bounced out.

Got to the show just in time to see Aggress and play our set. Aggress were sick, check that band. Young kids playing furious hardcore. Venue tonight was this awesome little punk garage that Quick Fix runs called the YRS. It's cool for sure. It's tiny and freezing. Our set went well. Again we had to borrow guitars (thanks Outlive, Outlast). During our set there was this insane mattress fight. So fucking cool. If you are reading this and in a band that tours, play Waterloo, Iowa. It will be one of the best shows you play for sure.

Hit up Pablos like we always do when we're in this town and then crashed out at the Take Control HQ. Got to catch up with Waterloo friends. Chad The Lorax is flying to Alaska for a beard convention. Amazing. Zach's dog took a liking to Derek's leg and wouldn't leave him alone for a couple hours. Just kept humping and humping until finally the dog tuckered out and fell asleep.

When we woke up we went with Zach and hit this decent breakfast spot in Waterloo called WaffleStop. I chose the tomato omelet and wasn't let down in my choice. Dropped Zach off and were back on the road headed home. I slept alot of the drive home because I had slept something like 3 hours in the past 48 hours. Our mandatory I-80 stop was awesome. We dumped like 15 bucks into those boxing games where you can measure your punches. Randle and I tied at 876 for the victory. Got home and went to bed instantly.

Back in action!

I (Nate) was out of town for 10 days. I went out on the road with Convicted from Chicago on the Blacklisted/Have Heart/Ceremony/Let Down tour. Shows were good. I had a good time.

Once I get home we got down to business and back in the Black Teeth flow with practicing/writing more. Then this past weekend we went out on the road again doing a weekend out. I worked until 3 then we drove 5ish hours to Des Moines for a show at the Haunted Basement. Every single time I go to this place something ridiculous happens. This time was no different. Some bro-type dudes were pissed at people at the show and wanted to fight someone. Everybody at the show heckled them enough that they became pretty friendly to us and thought we were awesome. This dude that we named Party Kyle decided to Teen Wolf up on top of this icy car that he'd spilled beer all over. He fell off an broke his leg in front of us. Most of us laughed at him, some were concerned. I wasn't the latter. We had a sick show for sure, check out Lord Green. Band is fucking awesome. After the show we headed to this pizza spot where this girl some people from the show hooked us up with $1 meals of like 2-3 slices. So sick.

Drove that night down to Kansas City and stopped at Terrible's Casino on the way down there. What a dump. Near Kansas City I started hella tiring out and needed something to keep me up so I played Madball's "Hold It Down" and "Set It Off" and jammed the fuck out to stay awake. Thank you Madball for keeping Black Teeth alive.

After seeing the brighter side of Kansas City we finally got to our dude Taylor's place and passed out in his living room. Kyle and I shared a couch, everyone else sprawled on the floor. Went to bed around 6:30 am.

Woke up around 9:30/10:00 and we went out for the day exploring Kansas City. Taylor took us to this place for a free pizza. Thing was 26". SCORE. Met up with Suburban Smash at the Pizza Place who were coming back from a weekend out. Here is a Suburban Smash weekend. Pile 5 dudes into a car and drive to Nebraska, Denver, and Kansas City from St. Louis. Wooow. So much road-time for a weekend out. Anyway, we we went out to this rootbeer brewery and everybody scored these giant bottles of rootbeer that tasted like the nectar of life. Shit was insane good! Hit up a couple skateparks, too. So sick.

Show was in Taylor's basement. I started feeling like crap around the time of the show. Show was fucking awesome. Suburban Smash was awesome again. Listen to that band. Solid show. Helium Head is awesome too. That band is a riff factory.

After the show we foot-raced outside and once again Randle proved he was faster than me. Taylor beat out Randle though and claimed King Footracer of the Midwest Wolfpack. I think Randle Longlegs would've taken him if he wasn't tired out from previous races.

Filled up on gas for $1.49 and one-tanked the drive home. 6 hour drive on $29 of gas. NOT TOO BAD!

We have a show this weekend at Johnny's Coffee House in Metamora with Manta Ray Gun. It's their CD release show. The show is a donation based show, whatever you have is good enough. $1, $3, whatever.

I'll have some pictures of the show soon. See you guys soon.

On the coldest nights
the saddest songs sink in the most
and on the longest drives
the furthest friends you wish were close
On the downside
the up just seems too far from home
and even amongst peers
I know what it's like to walk alone.

Conception
We are absolutely nothing and we are everyone.
We are a blessed nightmare. Unholy bastard sons.

Black Teeth
It wasn't enough for her to depend on a man who was rotting from the outside in.
The rotting of flesh and spilling of blood, a father of dirt made a child of mud.
And ripped from the womb, it wasn't enough, the bastard of man, abortion undone
born to a world with hate in his eyes and Black Teeth will reign in this world we despise.

Fear not the snake crawling under you skin.
Mind not the white horse of death marching in.

Show me a man with enough to go around and I'll show you ten more eating off the fucking ground.

Two songs from the 7 inch have been posted on the music page. Listen here.
